King beds come with a center rail for support and a set of
slats for each side. Platform beds require more slats, and therefore
have an additional charge. Slats are preferable to solid planks of
plywood since the spacing between them allows mattress to breathe.
Amish beds (both Mission and Shaker styles) feature steel bed rail fasteners which
are mortised into the headboard and side rails. These beds are extremely
easy to assemble (no tools are required). They consist of a headboard,
a footboard, two side rails and bed slats.
The Shaker Pencil Post beds come with old-fashioned steel bed bolts and solid
brass bed bolt covers. These beds require a bed bolt wrench for assembly,
which we supply. These Amish made beds consist of four posts, a headboard piece,
along with head, foot and side rails and bed slats.
